Special Interest Groups

Over 50% of our custom journeys are designed for special interest groups. Some have a charity objective, others a scientific interest and others just a group of friends who want to do something together which is original and challenging. One such group was the JOLT charity from Britain, who made an all womens traverse of the Andes from Salta in northern Argentina to San Pedro de Atacama – 24 days of riding at over 4000m.

Another was the Soler kayak expedition. A group of well-travelled friends from all over the world who got together in a safari camp in Africa and decided to meet up again to do something no-one else had done. We put together the first kayak descent of the Soler river here in Patagonia. On New years morning of 2000 they slipped into the icey waters of an afluent from the Soler Glacier and then followed it down into Lago Plomo. A classic first descent for a group with an average age of 55.

The Montoya family, clients of several visits, asked us to put together a trip which combined the perfect family holiday in a remote unvisited place with exceptional fly fishing. We had to drag Ray`s daughters away from their horses on the Sol de Mayo ranch and their resistance to leaving was only matched by Rays reluctance to miss out on the next days fishing of previously unexplored creeks in the Colonia valley.
