Road Travel

Patagonia adventure chile

We try and keep road travel to a minimum but also make sure that the road trips we do are enjoyable and comfortable. Depending on the number of clients in a group we will use different minibuses or vans, all with comfortable, reclining seats and good visibility. Journeys on the Southern Highway (Carretera Austral) are typically made with an accompanying pick-up truck which hauls gear and provides some extra seating if required. All drivers are experienced on these roads and appropriately licensed. Our vehicles are excellently maintained and equipped.

Driving times are never longer than 3 hours at a time and as there are endless opportunities for photo stops and dramatic rest breaks we seldom get more than an hour or so before we pull over for another round of photography or introductions. The reality of road travel here is that punctures, mud, snow and fallen trees do alter plans so we always try to cater for those eventualities and when they do happen treat them as opportunities to see a little more of an area or get some unique photos like horses hauling the Land Rover through the river for example!
